Moonshot has released a new cushion foundation, and I was impressed by the promises. To be honest, I was fooled, the description of the moonshot Micro setting fit Cushion EX SPF50+ PA++++ is not accurate in my opinion. Here’s why!
Moonshot promises a flawless finish, high ccoverage and great staying power (48 hours) with the better, upgraded version of their bestselling Micro Setting cushion. It is moisturizing, refreshing, doesn’t settle in wrinkles and pores, provides sun protection and it’s a bit bigger than the rest of the moonshot cushions (+ 3g). Available in 3 shades: #101 Ivory: pink ivory, #201 Beige: yellow beige, #301 Honey: rose beige.
I thought it would be perfect for me: I need long-lasting, lightweight foundations with good coverage, and this one is supposed to be exactly like that. I’ve used moonshot cushions before, 101 was too pink and too light, I preffered 202 although that was a bit too dark but that’s easier to fix. Well, shade 202 turned out to be way too dark for me this time… At least it does look natural on the skin, it is lightweight but the coverage is not great at all. I can’t hide my red spots and pimples at all with this foundation, layering doesn’t really help either. Is it long lasting? It’s not any better than other BB creams or foundations, it gets shiny, oily in a few hours although I use a mattifying powder too (YMMV: I have combination skin with very oily T-zone and I use sunscreen everyday). I do like the satin/semi-matte finish, I love how lightweight it is but I need more coverage and 201 is way too dark for my (NC10-15) skin. The puff is incredible though! Sometimes I use it to apply other BB creams and foundations too, moonshot really knows how to make good puffs. Unfortunately I chose the wrong shade but it is just really hard to believe how it’s advertised and a foundation with high covereage while I can barely hide the smallest imperfections with it. I never experienced something like this before.
Give it a try if you have combination skin and you are looking for a lightweight cushion foundation with medium coverage. Bad news for people with sensitive skin: it contains alcohol and fragrance too.
