Who knew that something so simple like the Olivarrier Fluid Oil could turn into one of my most loved product in my routine?! Today I’m going to review this oilless oil because squalane is THE ingredient that your skin wants right now!
The Olivarrier Fluid Oil might look boring at first sight but the more you get to know its main (and only) ingredient (squalane) the more you wish you knew about it earlier. Well, at least that’s how I felt. What is squalane? I’m glad you asked. Squalane is a saturated and stable hydrocarbon that was originally obtained from shark livers but is found in many vegetable oils and human skin too. It is an exceptional hydrator and it’s good at strengthening the skin barrier. It is able to prevent UV damage, protect the skin from damage caused by city pollution, fine dust, temperature differences, junk food, hormonal changes and stress. Moreover, it promotes cell growth, it’s antibacterial, non-comedogenic and is suitable for all skin types. It can also be applied to hair to increase heat protection, add shine and reduce breakage potential. And one more very important thing! When it comes to humans, squalane levels peak in our early 20s and then decline quickly. It can permeate into the skin faster than water (about at a rate of 2 mm/second)! I love seeing how quickly it absorbs into my skin without making it look and feel oily.
The Olivarrier Fluid Oil is colorless, odorless and it contains only one ingredient: olive based squalane. It will soothe the skin all over the face (you can use it around the eyes and lips too), rough hands and nails, damaged hair, and even the sensitive skin of expecting mothers and babies. Why is olive squalane so good comparing to other plant based oils? Its low molecular structure with small particles can moisturize and smooth the skin without blocking the pores as it can prevent dead skin cells from piling up. It creates a stronger and healthier moisture barrier and reduces excess sebum production.
I have combination – acne prone skin with very oily T-zone but my skin loved it! I like using it before or after my moisturizer because it makes the most simple cream a bit fancier and better. But on lazy days I apply nothing else besides this after washing my face and the funny thing is: it is enough! I’m used to layering light, moisturizing products, that’s my secret to keep my skin moisturized but not oily, but it turns out, squalane can be just as effective. I use it on my face, neck, hand, sometimes on my body and hair too as it gives me the feeling I used to have when I was in my 20s. I don’t mind being 31 but it does feel nice to have some squalane on my skin! 🙂 I believe it is suitable for all skin types, sensitive too! Are you a few years or decades past your 20s? Try to use a product with squalane, your skin will appreciate it!
