The KLAIRS Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop and peptides in general deserve some recognition so here I am with a new review! One thing’s for sure, peptides should be present in your skincare routine, don’t underestimate them, but let’s take a closer look at this cute, blue, anti-aging serum from Korea!
The KLAIRS Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is an anti-wrinkle product and the star ingredients are some peptides: RH-Oligopeptide-1 and RH-Polypeptide-1. It’s satisfying to see that the ingredient list is so short and it contains no alcohol, fragrance, parabens etc., because I just simply can’t ignore a gentle product with effective ingredients… 🙂 I’ll be honest, it hasn’t been long since I found out about the importance of peptides in skincare but by now I have tried out some of them. You can usually find peptides in facial oils, serums or creams and there is so much to know and love about them but I will keep it short.
What are peptides?
Peptides are made up of amino acids and they have the same chemical structure as proteins, they’re just shorter in length. They are essential ingredients in everyone’s routine because the lack of peptides will result in loss of firmness, appearance of wrinkles and texture changes. They get named by the the number of amino acids, so you’ll find for example: dipeptides, tripeptides, tetrapeptides etc. Why are they important in skincare? Because peptides are active molecules that send signals to your cells. They have different functions but let me give you an example: when collagen breaks down, some peptides can signal to your skin that damage has been done and it needs to make new collagen. So, if you apply peptides topically you can trick your skin and make it produce more collagen, ergo anti-aging is happening!
The KLAIRS Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop might look small at first glance (20 ml) but don’t forget: only a very small amount is needed to achieve the desired action and results in the skin! It is a night serum which you can use before going to bed and thanks to guaiazulene, it has a lovely blue tint to it. There are two peptides present in the formula: EGF (rh-Oligopeptide-1) and bFGF (RH-Polypeptide-1) and they can improve the overall health and quality of the skin and keep the outer and inner parts of the skin firm and smooth.
Why everyone should use peptides daily? Because in our mid-20s, the concentration of peptides in our bodies decrease rapidly, and the skin starts to product less collagen as well. It’s already a good reason and we haven’t even talked about many other factors such as damages caused by UV rays, environmental changes etc. The serum itself is very light, odorless, it absorbs very quickly, doesn’t make your skin oily and you only need a few drops. It’s not irritating at all, the serum turned out to be a very gentle product which can be used by all skin types, sensitive too! As I mentioned above, I used serums containing peptides before but most of them were rather facial oils thus which is not something you want to use of you have combination or oily skin. That’s why a light product like this is more appealing. It’s good to know that you won’t see results very quickly, these are not some sort of magical ingredients, simply something very useful for your skin. The most important thing to note: peptides can be great anti-aging ingredients for use in skincare products and the Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is a solid choice if you are looking for a good product with some peptides.
